The Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund has launched its 41st annual Give the Gift of Warmth campaign to provide emergency heating assistance to residents.

This fund aids Massachusetts households that are facing temporary financial crises, cannot cover a month's worth of energy costs, and do not qualify for state or federal energy programs. This year, the fundraising target is $500,000, which will help approximately 1,200 households stay warm through the winter and into the spring.

The drive involves a collaborative effort involving 18 sponsoring energy companies, the general public, and the corporate community.

Customers of participating energy companies are receiving the fund's green “Give the Gift of Warmth” donation envelope as an insert in their monthly energy bills. The envelope features a QR code for convenient gift contributions.

Individuals can also donate at magoodneighbor.org or by mailing a check payable to “Good Neighbor Energy Fund” to the following address:

“The unusually cold winter season, combined with continued cost-of-living pressures, has made it harder for many households to make ends meet,” said Justin Stearns, chair of the Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund, in a statement shared with The (Newburyport) Daily News. “The Good Neighbor Energy Fund exists for families who are trying to do everything right but still find themselves in a short-term crisis. Our sponsoring energy companies recognize this reality and are stepping up again this year. Donations in any amount help provide warmth and stability to neighbors across the Commonwealth.”

Massachusetts residents who need assistance can visit their local Salvation Army Corps Community Center at salvationarmyma.org. Individuals can also call 800-334-3047 (area codes 339, 351, 508, 617, 774, 781, 857, and 978) or 800-262-1320 (area code 413).
