Dunkin' is getting into the Halloween holiday mood. It transformed its downtown Salem store at 52 Washington St. into a haunted scene with dripping faux purple doughnut frosting, Halloween messages, and altered restroom signs.
Some messages around the store written in the faux frosting feature sayings such as “THE RUMORS R TRUE” and “I'M BAK.” The sign above the mobile order pickup line has been replaced with a purple sign that says “PIK UP LINEZ.”
A large spider web decoration with the message “I'M UR CUTEST NITEMARE” highlights the spooky theme and subtly hints at the limited-time Dunkin' Spider Donut, a purple-frosted doughnut with a spider center.
Last year, the Spider Donut took over the Dunkin' Instagram account with several tongue-in-cheek posts. The idea was part of a clever social media marketing campaign that blamed “Spidey” for the Halloween tricks and treats on Dunkin' social media channels.
MassLive noted that Dunkin' has not officially announced the return of the Spider Donut. However, rumors have circulated online that the doughnut and related merchandise will be available in stores on Oct. 15.
