Boston's Public Market will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year with the arrival of giant pumpkins, known as the “Official Pumpkins of Boston,” on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at noon.

The tradition of the pumpkin delivery marks the start of Boston Public Market's annual Harvest Party, the Market's premier fundraising event, taking place on Thursday, Oct. 16. This year's pumpkins are donated by Boston Public Market vendor Red Apple Farm of Phillipston, Massachusetts.

The giant gourds, which originate from Art Kazenski's fields in Irving, Massachusetts, will be delivered to the market by forklift.

This event is a major fundraiser for Boston Public Market, funding “Market on a Mission” initiatives. These efforts include subsidizing rent, supporting local food entrepreneurs, offering educational programs, and increasing access to healthy foods for Boston-area residents.

Tickets for the Harvest Party start at $50 and can be purchased on the market's website. Proceeds from ticket sales help support the market's community programs and mission.

“Reaching our 10th birthday is a powerful reminder of how much the Boston Public Market has grown in a decade,” said Cheryl Cronin, CEO of the Boston Public Market, in a statement shared with the Patch Media across Massachusetts. “The Harvest Party not only celebrates our community, [but] it also ensures the market can continue to support local farmers, food makers, and small businesses for the next 10 years and beyond.”
