Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo has announced a Mayor's Night Out event on Friday, Sept. 26. The event will offer free access to museums and attractions for Salem residents to enjoy early Halloween festivities.

Salem will host trick-or-treating for the community starting at 5:30 p.m. on the Pedestrian Mall and down through Pickering Wharf.

Many Salem museums and attractions, such as the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem Witch Museum, Salem Wax Museum, and Frankenstein's Castle, will offer free admission at specific times. Residents must provide a photo identification showing proof of Salem residency to gain free admission to participating attractions. Students may use a school identification card, a bus pass, or a Salem Public Library card.

Additionally, free parking for Salem residents will be available after 2 p.m. at the Museum Place Mall Garage and South Harbor Garage. Proof of residency will be required to exit the garages.

Creative Collective and their friends from the Good Witch of Salem will return to Mayor's Night Out with signature photo backdrops, candy, and some fun surprises for attendees. In addition, the Salem law firm of Mazow | McCullough, PC, Broad Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, and representatives from the National Park Service will be on hand with some treats.

"October is a busy time for our businesses, and this is their way to say thank you to our citizens, offering a day that lets our locals enjoy Halloween before the month officially kicks off," Pangallo said in a statement shared with the Patch of Salem. "Salem's business community has really embraced this program, and I am so grateful for their generous participation."

A complete list of businesses participating in the Mayor's Night Out event and trick-or-treating activities is available on the City of Salem's website.
