AmeriCorps Cape Cod and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invite the public to participate in the 24th Annual Cape Cod Canal Clean Up on Saturday, April 19. The free event, designed to commemorate Earth Day, welcomes the community to get involved in preserving the historic Cape Cod Canal.

Organizers are encouraging families, clubs, and businesses to register in advance to participate. Volunteers can register online

All attendees will gather at the Herring Run Recreation Area, 810 Scenic Highway in Bourne, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to remove debris and litter along the Cape Cod Canal. Event organizers will provide all cleanup supplies, including gloves and trash bags. Participants will also receive a complimentary lunch and enjoy family-friendly activities.

According to a news release about the event, all the trash collected from the Canal Clean Up will be weighed to determine how much material was stopped from entering the waterway.

Those unable to participate on April 19 can request alternative cleanup opportunities. For questions or more information about the Cape Cod Canal Clean Up, contact Brendan Williamson by email.
