Organizers of several of the largest marathons in the United States, including the Boston Marathon, are joining forces in solidarity of support for California wildfire victims.
The Los Angeles Marathon, New York Road Runners, Chicago Marathon, and Boston Marathon will collectively support Together LA. Led by The McCourt Foundation, Together LA seeks to raise funds for those impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles County. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be given to organizations such as Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) and the California Fire Foundation to provide emergency assistance relief, support displaced families, and help with long-term recovery efforts.
Jack Fleming — president and CEO of the Boston Athletic Association, which organizes the Boston Marathon, presented by Bank of America — said in a news release, “The Boston Athletic Association is proud to join Together LA in support of those affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County. Connections in the running world are powerful. We are always better together, and this is a time for us to demonstrate that we stand as one.”
As part of this initiative, limited-edition Together LA merchandise featuring co-branding by the participating marathons is available for sale. To purchase items or contribute to wildfire relief efforts, visit the Together LA website.
