Boston Police Find Stolen French Bulldog After Five-Day Search
In a happy ending, Boston police found Bodega, a French bulldog, getting him back to his Dorchester family Monday. Two people on scooters had snatched him five days before.
Police found the three-year-old dog near Quincy Street – right where the thieves were last seen with him on camera. The whole thing started when Bodega got out of his yard last Wednesday.
“Very happy. Very excited,” said the pet’s owner to NBC Boston. “He’s part of the family and we have been with him since he was a baby.”
The police shared security camera footage showing both suspects riding through the intersection of Quincy and Ceylon streets on their scooter with the stolen dog.
Alisha Contreras, who lives in the area, talked about how the dog looked when he got back. “Really nervous and just so happy to be here,” she said.
The theft scared many pet owners nearby. Contreras mentioned how upset her neighbors were: “I felt sad, also, because I know how much my neighbor loves his dog, and, like, his dog is so nice and just caring.”
The fact that Bodega was so close to the owner’s young son made the theft even worse. “Why would you do such a thing?” Contreras asked about the thieves. “That’s just, like, an evil thing to do.”
Police are still looking into the case. Anyone with information can call Boston police at 617-343-4275.
