Massachusetts Ranks #10 in the Hunt for Deals
Massachusetts just made the cut as the 10th most deal-obsessed state in the nation.
Yep, we love a good discount — though not quite as much as New Jersey, which took the top spot.
So, how did the rest of New England stack up? Rhode Island snagged 4th, Connecticut slid into 5th, and New Hampshire wasn’t far behind in 8th.
Seems like the frugal Yankee spirit is alive and well across the region!
What’s a Yankee sensibility, you ask? It’s our time-honored knack for thriftiness. From clipping coupons back in the day to scouring Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals today, we’ve always been experts at stretching a dollar. Call it a mix of practicality and pure New England pride.
The rankings come from a recent study by VegasInsider, which analyzed 442 Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and general bargain-related keywords. They crunched the numbers on searches per 100,000 residents in each state, revealing which states go the hardest for discounts.
So, what does it take to be #1?
New Jersey blew the competition away with a whopping 128.6 score and an average of 119,480 searches per month. Delaware came in second, with New York a close third.
Here in Massachusetts, we landed at 114.4 — solid, but with room to climb (guess we’re too busy arguing about how to pronounce “bargain”).
Mississippi, on the other hand, couldn’t care less about deals, ranking dead last with a score of 76.0. And while Californians led the nation in total searches (438,870 per month!), their massive population kept them at 16th place.
Bottom line? Bargain hunting is serious business here in the Bay State, and we’re keeping that penny-pinching, deal-digging tradition alive. After all, why pay full price when you don’t have to?
Now excuse us while we hunt for that Cyber Monday jackpot.
