This Liquor Store Wedding Chapel Says I Do To That!
When it comes to wedding venues, New Orleans just threw the bouquet—and the rulebook—out the window. Meet Chuck’s on the Avenue, the world’s first liquor store-slash-wedding chapel. Located at 205 St. Charles Ave, this spot is now the place to say “I do” next to the beer cooler. Yes, you read that right.
Liquor Store Wedding, Indeed
The idea? Equal parts genius and ridiculous. Chuck’s hosted its first-ever wedding on November 16. A couple from Donaldsonville, Louisiana, tied the knot with a ceremony that screamed “only in NOLA.” Saints superfan and ordained minister Randy “Elvis” Bonnaval officiated, while the liquor store owner, Charles Loescher, walked the bride down the aisle. Their first dance? Of course, an Elvis tune.
The newlyweds summed it up perfectly. “We just love to drink,” the groom said. “When this idea came up, we said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.’” Same, buddy. Same.
Chuck’s is leaning into the absurdity with wedding packages starting at $500. The options are as over-the-top as you’d expect: beer truck drivers as witnesses, live music from local legends, and bourbon tastings that might make you forget why you’re even there. Themes range from Elvis and Mardi Gras to Voodoo. Want to renew your vows with tequila shots? Chuck’s got you.
This isn’t the first time weddings have gone weird. Vegas, the OG king of quirky weddings, has been at it for decades with Elvis impersonators, drive-thru chapels, and even vows on a roller coaster. But a wedding in a liquor store? That’s a toast-worthy first.
And it’s pure New Orleans. The inaugural liquor store wedding ceremony featured a New Orleans Brass Band, a flower girl tossing black-and-gold beads, and a second-line parade through the tequila aisle. The photos are all over Instagram, because of course they are.
So, if you’ve ever dreamed of saying your vows with a whiskey chaser, Chuck’s is your place. After all, love—and liquor—is always worth celebrating. Cheers!
