5 Things You Can Do To Be A Happy Person Right Now
Do you know someone who’s always happy? And you wonder “How is this person so happy all the time?” Dr. Sanjay Gupta recently compared it to people who are naturally thin and “don’t have to work hard at it.” It’s kind of annoying, right? But according to a happiness expert, you can actually learn to be happier.
Here are five habits to increase your happiness . . .
1. Find things you can become fully absorbed in. When you’re fully engaged in something, you don’t notice the passage of time. It’s called a “flow” state, and it’s associated with more joy. This can be any activity from baking to golfing. The point is to get lost in the moment and you will find that all of the negativity washes away.
2. Practice random acts of kindness. It can make you feel generous and capable, and bring more joy to your life. They always say that doing for others does a lot for ourselves. It doesn’t too much to bring a little happiness to other people, even simple compliment can make someone happy.
3. Nurture your relationships. Research shows they can be more important to happiness than money, your job, or even your health. Don’t be the last person to reach out to friends or wait for them to reach out to you. People like to know that they are being thought of in a good way from their friends and family.
4. Express gratitude. Count your blessings and be thankful for them. Showing your appreciation for kindness from others will make you happy. Letting people know that you appreciate them makes everyone feel good and counting your blessings will make you feel very happy too.
5. Celebrate good news. Give yourself a pat on the back when you’ve earned one. And celebrate other people’s wins too. Again, it’s about being grateful and fostering community. It’s okay to take some time and enjoy some good news that might have come your way to make you even just a little bit happy.
