Yeah, yeah…I know this one gets thrown around a lot, but hear me out. Have you ever regretted a workout after you’ve completed it? Most likely the answer is no. Plus, you don’t have to go to a fancy gym to elevate your heart rate. There are plenty of free workouts on YouTube to check out. If all else fails, put on your favorite tunes and dance around your home. It sounds insane, but as someone who does this multiple times a week, it’s quite fun, so don’t knock it until you try it.

It seems every week there’s a new test for us that will let us know how long we will live. Most of the physical tests have some sort endurance aspect to it that either involves how long or how many you of it you can do. This one involves how many push-ups you can do by age.

Last week there was a test that would determine your lifespan based on how long you could stand on one leg. If you could do it for a minimum of 30 seconds, you could expect a nice long life, if you can’t, then you could expect a shorter lifespan.

Experts at the Mayo Clinic are determining once and for all how many push-ups the average man and woman should be able to do by age bracket — and the answer may surprise you.

The push-up pros said the classic exercise is a good measurement of muscular strength and endurance as one ages.

The standard true push-up engages most major muscle groups in the body, including legs, abs, and arms The key is to keep your body straight with your hands lined up with your shoulders, pushing up all the way until your arms are straight again while staying on your hands and toes.

Here's how many push ups you should be able to do by decades

25-34 Women 20 - Men 28

35-44 Women 19 - Men 21

45-54 Women 14 - Men 16

55-64 Women 10- Men 12

65+ Women and Men each 10

Well there you have it, so don’t be afraid to take this test, make sure your back is straight your butt is up and you go as close to the ground as you can before popping back up. If you find yourself short of the required number for your age group, don’t despair now you know where you stand.
