A new Halloween poll found around one in four adults will throw on a costume this year.  22% dressed up last year, and 27% are planning to this time around.

It didn't look at the specific costumes people are planning, but did look at TYPES of costumes.  Here they are . . .

Here are the Top 5 Halloween Costumes For Adults

1.  A fictional person or character.  44% said their costume fits that category. Who has never dressed as a superhero like Batman, Spiderman or Wonder Woman? It seem like every other costume you see is one of these, but don't be afraid to try a fictional character that nobody else is doing. Perhaps from a Grimm Fairy Tail, there's lots of characters to choose from

2.  An animal or creature, 19%. Women love to go as a kitty cat because they can be both easy and cute or sexy. Pop on a set of cat ears and some whiskers painted your face with a black boop on your nose and you are good to go. Of course you can always aim higher and go for a creature from a scary movie, but that is not cute or sexy.

3.  A concept, 16%. This year people are dressing as Sexy Ozempic boxes, go figure, but it's actually a thing. Think out of the box and be creative with your concept and you might win the best costume award for originality and creativity.

4.  A living person, 14%. Always hard to pull of a living person unless you're willing to pay for a rubber mask. If you choose a political person such as Donald Trump or Kamala Harris, be ready to take some grief. Better to stick to a non-polarizing celebrity that people want to see at the party.

5.  A historical figure, 13%. There are so many options to choose from here, you can all the way back to Lincoln or Cleopatra and the good news is, most people will know who you are. That assumes that the party attendants have read a modicum of history. Better to stick with a well known historical figure than an obscure one.

Here are more statistics on what people say about their costumes

39% would describe their costume as "creative."  30% said "simple," and 30% also said "funny."

Only 23% are planning a "scary" costume this year.  13% said "sexy."

If you're doing a couple's costume, you're not alone.  Our partner or spouse is the #1 person we coordinate costumes with.  Our kids are next, followed by friends and family.

11% of people who've already bought their costume say they're coordinating with a coworker this year.

Bob has been married for almost 25 years to Carolyn, a Woburn gal and they have 3 daughters, Nicole, Taylor, and Bridget. Bob and Carolyn are proud first-time grandparents to baby Caroline, who they plan to spoil every chance they get! “I started my career in New England and could not be happier to come back to Boston where I can root for all the Boston sports teams and eat lots of lobster rolls and clam chowder (okay not lots)… It is an honor to host the WROR morning show with LBF and wake up the World’s Greatest City!” Bob writes about recipes and restaurants, pop culture and trending topics.
