Pizza Art from Rhode Island Bakery Looks Nearly Too Stunning to Eat
Most of us have heard of “sandwich artists,” but what about a pizza artist who’s truly making literal art? One look at the pizza art of Eric John Palmieri of D. Palmieri’s Bakery in Johnston, Rhode Island and you’d agree that he has a very unique gift.
Palmieri has received a lot of attention lately thanks to his New England Patriots pizza. He told CBS News Boston that after sharing the photo of his Pats pizza, he received a flood of calls.
“People started calling me and asking me, ‘Can you make this, can you make that?’ So then I really started pushing the boundaries of what I could do with it,” said Palmieri.
And if you think his pizza love is reserved for just the Patriots, Palmieri also honored the Boston Celtics with a pizza featuring Lucky.
Palmieri has also recreated some notable pop culture and music figures including Amy Winehouse…
Freddie Mercury…
Yoda…
and, in the spirit of the upcoming Halloween holiday, Winifred Sanderson (Bette Midler) from Hocus Pocus.
D. Palmieri’s Bakery is a family business that spans generations. Palmieri told CBS News Boston that his family has been involved with various bakeries in Rhode Island since the early 1900s. Meanwhile, the current D. Palmieri’s Bakery was first opened in 1971 by his grandfather.
Palmieri said his father was a bit apprehensive about the idea of pizza art, but he clearly was won over, especially after his initial American flag pizza he created nine years ago was a hit. Years later, he’s even created fun pizzas for children’s birthday parties.

Harpoon Brewery Launches Limited-Edition Harvest Lager with L.L. Bean
You know what would pair well with this Palmieri’s pizza? A refreshing lager. Fortunately, Harpoon Brewery and L.L. Bean have joined forces and created Harvest Lager, a new limited-edition beer.
As previously reported, Harvest Lager features a 5% ABV and is brewed with locally sourced Maine-grown malt. It’s available in 16-ounce four-packs and on draft at select places in New England. Additionally, 12-ounce cans of Harvest Lager are included in Harpoon’s Fall Mix 12-pack, which also contains Harpoon IPA, Octoberfest, and Flannel Friday, Harpoon’s signature fall seasonal beer. The new beer will also be available at Harpoon Brewery’s Octoberfest celebration taking place on Oct. 4 and 5.
In a statement, CEO and Co-Founder of Mass. Bay Brewing Company Dan Kenary said, “As a company that prides itself on creating high-quality products focused on craftsmanship, it felt natural to team up with a brand that shared that core value — and is equally as iconic to our New England fan base. Especially as we head into fall, one of the most quintessential seasons for both brands, it was our mission from the start to create a beer that could be enjoyed by everyone outdoors — whether you’re a weekend warrior, urban explorer, or simply looking for a delicious new lager to try out with friends.”
L.L.Bean Chief Marketing Officer Nick Wilkoff added, “At L.L.Bean, we’re passionate about celebrating the spirit of New England and the joy of the outdoors, and our partnership with Harpoon Brewery captures that perfectly. From our limited-edition Harvest Lager to the fall pop-up events, we’re excited to offer new ways for people to enjoy the season with friends and family, continuing our tradition of bringing people together outside for more than 100 years.”
The collaboration between Harpoon and L.L.Bean doesn’t stop with the lager. The two companies have launched a sweepstakes where one grand prize winner can win a trip for two to go to the L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Center in Maine in Summer 2025. The prize package includes guided experiences, including kayaking, paddleboarding and more. Full details can be found at HarpoonFallSweeps.com.
On top of that, L.L. Bean is bringing its Bootmobile to Harpoon’s Beer Hall in Boston on Oct. 4 and 5 and to the Harpoon’s Tap Room in Windsor, VT on Oct. 12 and 13. A selection of fall apparel will be available for purchase. Onsite personalization will also be available for customers.
