Bottoms Up! This Martini Costs $13,000
It’s a martini for a millionaire.
And if you’re ready to sip on luxury, Adalina, a chic Italian spot in Chicago, has launched a cocktail that’ll set you back… a lot! This isn’t your regular happy hour martini. Nope, the “Marrow Martini” comes with a twist— and by twist, I mean a diamond necklace.
That’s right. For a few thousand bucks, you get not only a fancy drink but also a 9-carat diamond tennis necklace.
It’s like shopping for jewelry, but with alcohol.
Adalina’s executive chef, Soo Ahn (from Top Chef, no big deal), teamed up with Marrow Fine, a jewelry brand conveniently located right below the restaurant, to bring this over-the-top experience to life.
The cocktail isn’t just your standard martini.
Oh no! It’s made with Mezcal, not gin or vodka. Colin Hofer, Adalina’s manager, told the New York Post Mezcal has “untapped potential as a luxury spirit” and compares it to “heirloom jewelry.” Fancy, right?
This isn’t your typical lemon twist drink either. They’ve paired it with heirloom tomato water (yes, that’s a thing), chili liqueur, and lemon basil olive oil. It’s like a garden in a glass. And to top it all off? They smoke the cocktail under a glass cloche before serving it. Talk about dramatic!
Once the smoke clears, you’re presented with the ultimate accessory: a sparkling 150-diamond necklace in 14K gold. Who needs a cocktail umbrella when you can have diamonds?
Hofer admits they don’t expect this martini to fly off the bar. It’s more of a “one-of-a-kind” experience for those looking to make a statement (and empty their wallets). But hey, if you’re in the market for a martini and a piece of fine jewelry, this drink’s got you covered. Bottoms up!
