Massachusetts ranked as the 2nd most vaccinated state in the country.
That’s quite a shot in the arm.
Vaccines are saving lives every day—between 4 to 5 million annually, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
WalletHub just released its 2024 report on the States that Vaccinate the Most, showing which states are doing the best job protecting their residents from preventable diseases. The report ranks all 50 states and Washington D.C., using 16 different factors, from childhood vaccination rates to the number of people without health insurance.
Massachusetts ranked as the 2nd most vaccinated state in the country.
Rhode Island was number one. Maine came in at #3, Vermont places at #6, New Hampshire #8 and Connecticut at #10.

- Flu Shots for Kids: The Bay State ranks 3rd for getting children (ages 6 months to 17 years) vaccinated against the flu.
- HPV Vaccinations for Teens: Teens in the state are doing great too—the state is 3rd for making sure 13-17-year-olds are up-to-date on their HPV vaccines.
- Meningitis Vaccinations for Teens: Massachusetts is 10th for vaccinating teens against MenACWY, which helps protect against meningitis.
- Flu Shots for Adults: When it comes to adults, Massachusetts takes the top spot—1st in the nation for flu vaccination coverage.
- Tetanus Shots: The state ranks 15th for adult tetanus vaccinations.
- Shingles Vaccine: For adults 60 and older, Massachusetts is 18th in shingles (zoster) vaccinations.
- Kids in Poverty: Massachusetts is making sure kids in poverty are protected too, ranking 4th in getting children (ages 19-35 months) the full series of vaccines.
- Health Insurance: Massachusetts has the lowest percentage of uninsured people in the country, ranking 1st for the share of the population with health insurance.
- Immunization Info Systems: The state ranks 3rd for including kids under six in an immunization information system.
