Tell Me More About PLAY Airlines
PLAY Airlines took flight in 2019 after Wow Air, another low-cost airline based in Iceland went under. They specialize in low-cost flights between North America and Europe.
The airline states on its website, “At PLAY, safety is the name of the game. Our other core values are on-time performance, simplicity, happiness, low prices, and safety. Yes, we said safety twice because that’s how we play it.”
In October 2023, travel magazine AFAR published a piece where reporter Barbara Peterson described her experience flying PLAY Airlines from Logan International Airport to Keflavík Airport in Iceland. While Peterson noted various fees pertaining to carry-ons and in-flight beverages/snacks, she wrote, “Round-trip flights to Europe with PLAY, depending on your ultimate destination and which ancillary services you choose, range from as little as $200 round trip (during a big sale) to more than $800.”
PLAY’s flights feature what Peterson referred to as “economy seating for all,” but there were options to pay extra for a seat with more legroom. The flight might be low of frills, but, as Peterson wrote, ” … If all you want is a more affordable flight to Europe, PLAY will deliver on that front.”
