Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Complaints From Steve Miller, More
Wow!! With The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame complaints coming in, teaming up with the mouse may help soften it’s reputation for reportedly being rats to some inductees.
It was just announced that the Hall of Fame broadcast ceremony has a new home: Disney +
Hall Of Fame Airing LIVE On Disney +
This is a fascinating change, seeing that the ceremony has aired for years on HBO, known for it’s provocative content. Now, we’ll have a bunch of rockers, LIVE on a channel known for family entertainment. According to deadline.com:
The 2023 ceremony, which has aired on HBO since 1995, is moving to Disney+ and ABC as part of a new deal.
It will broadcast live coast-to-coast on Disney+ on Friday, November 3. Disney-owned linear network ABC will air a special with performances on January 1.
Where’s Rage Against The Machine?
Not that I’m a fan of Rage, but let’s look at the inductee list: Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine and The Spinners with other awards for DJ Kool Herc, Link Wray, Chaka Khan, Al Kooper, Bernie Taupin and Don Cornelius.
Now, let’s look at the performer list that will air LIVE on Disney +: Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Chaka Khan and Willie Nelson as well as special guests Brandi Carlile, Dave Matthews, H.E.R., Chris Stapleton, St. Vincent, and New Edition. Rage Against the Machine is missing. It seems like this is a Disney+ friendly list, which may make sense.
Hall Of Fame Trophy Shelf of Problems
It seems like the Hall of Fame can’t get out of it’s own way. Recently, famous board member and Hall Of Fame founder Jann Wenner was removed from it’s board of directors for tone deaf comments about his book that were severely criticized. That was the fastest cancelation since Australia’s Naughtiest Home Videos. (That was actually a show that was canceled after just one episode.)
It doesn’t end there. Former Foreigner lead singer Lou Gramm told a TV station the reason that his former band is NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is due to a riff between Jann Wenner and Foreigner co-founder Mick Jones. Now that Wenner is out, maybe that will change.
What about rock star, hit maker Steve Miller? His issues with the Hall of Fame are almost famous. In a radio interview, he blasts them for extremely poorly treatment to him and his band during the 2016 induction process and pre-show rehearsals. One example is that Miller was angry that the Hall of Fame producers did not provide adequate tickets for his band to attend the expensive event, and that the band would have to PAY for tickets for the wives of his band members. Keep in mind: it was the Steve Miller BAND, that was being inducted, what was supposed to be a once in a lifetime, honor. That will be $10,000 dollars please. What ever the amount was, reportedly, Steve paid out of his pocket.
With the move to Disney+ and the removal of Jann Wenner, maybe the Hall Of Fame complaints, will come to an end.
