As the search engine Google celebrates it's 25th anniversary, can we really remember a time without it?
Before September 27, 1998, if we wanted breakfast, where did we type, Massachusetts breakfast near me? What did we do? One thing is for sure. The invention of Google, changed everything, by putting the power of information in our hands at lighting speed. So let's take a walk back to simpler times, to the beginning. Hang on while I search History of Google.
History of Google: 5 Things You Didn't Know
1- Google was originally called Back Rub-
2-The name is a play on words, originally inspired by mathematical term googol, which is the number one followed by 100 zeros.
3-Back in 1997, co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin offered to sell it to Yahoo for $1 million. Yahoo said no thanks. Do you think Yahoo regrets that mistake? Google hit a net worth of $2 trillion in 2022.
4-Google owns You Tube, and the deal was at a Denny's.
5-Like all trillion-dollar tech companies, Google was founded in a Connecticut garage by two Stanford University students, Sergey Brin and Larry Page.
Google Products We Use
I'm using one right now, typing this using the Google Chrome browser. Other products are, Google Maps, Drive, Google Images, Gmail, You Tube, Google Play, Google Ads, Calendar, Translate, Sheets, Assistant and more. I can't forget one more: our Android phone.
Did You Know That JLO Helped Google?
Leave it to Jennifer Lopez to be on the forefront of a Google product we use each day, and she may not even know it. Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote:
Consider that in 2000 so many people rushed to Google seeking photos of Jennifer Lopez’s daring Grammy’s dress that it became the most popular search query. That search returned 10 blue links, but no green dress.
People wanted pictures, not links to pictures. What happened next? The creation of Google Images.
So as Google celebrates it's 25th anniversary, thank you for helping me find breakfast near me, faster.
