New Patriots Million Dollar Screen And The Star Who Runs It
Question: Who’s the Patriots NEWEST star? Mac Jones? Bill O’Brien? The Patriots million dollar screen?
One of the biggest new stars playing for the Patriots this season is NOT a million dollar player. It’s not a million dollar coach. Yet, this new superstar cost Robert Kraft $250,000,000. Well, let’s unveil the newest member of Pats Nation!
Gillette’s New 22,000 Square Foot Video Board
How great is the new video board?
Well, we helped pay for it, so it had better be great. It is. Gillette’s new 22,000 square foot video board truly is a site to see. It is SO much bigger than the original screen, we can’t remember it. The video board is SO wide, it’s as almost as wide as the stadium itself.
According to Boston.com the new display stands as the largest outdoor curved-radius video board at a sports venue in the country. It’s over FIVE times the size of the board it replaced.

Gillette’s $250,000,000 In Renovations
Boston.com says: The new video board is part of Gillette’s massive investment in renovations. Other renovations and improvements to Gillette Stadium as part of this construction phase include a new 22-story lighthouse behind the north end zone videoboard, the Bud Light Celebration Beer Hall at field level, an expanded Enel Plaza and grand staircase, and more.
The Star Who Runs The Video Board
You may never see her face, but you know her work! Meet Abbey Thistle, who is in charge of running what fans see on the screen. Her job resembles a TV, movie director, and an orchestra leader, calling the shots in real time during each game to match the action on the field, and put it on the screen.
According to patriots.com:
As the Director of Event Presentation and Fan Engagement for Kraft Sports + Entertainment, she cues fireworks and pyrotechnics, decides what music to play at Gillette Stadium and when, and ultimately ensures all the moving parts that go into an enhanced fan experience run smoothly.
It was Abby that cued Tom Brady to ring the bell in the new lighthouse at the beginning season opener. While it may look easy, creating in the moment screen content is not. Abby directs a team of SIXTY people, preparing six hours ahead of each game. Abby is also in charge of what songs we hear at the game. What IS the song that get’s Pats Nation on their feet? According to Abbey? You guessed it. Bon Jovi’s Livin’ On A Prayer.
We look forward to seeing it played in the stadium and on the Patriots million dollar screen!
