Want To Be Country Star, Turns Into Icon
Yes, all he wanted was to make a hit country music album. With the help of mentor Jim Croce, Buffett went on, to take his beach-bum themed life, and turn it into a multimillion dollar empire, with concerts, restaurants, hotels and even cruise ships. His massive hit Margaritaville was the backdrop to millions of fans known as parrot-heads, who followed their leader, to live on sponge cake, and chill.
Boston Hospital Connection
On May 19 of this year, I reported this:
BREAKING: A Jimmy Buffett Boston hospital visit takes him off the road. After a two day visit to a Boston hospital, Jimmy Buffet, 76, revealed he was hospitalized for “undisclosed issues.” This was announced on his twitter late yesterday:
The Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band concert at Credit One Stadium in Charleston scheduled for this Saturday May 20th is being rescheduled. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced. More information will be emailed to ticket purchasers… pic.twitter.com/ljKJ06hbiA

Obviously, his condition could have been worse than reported.
July Rhode Island Visit
But, on July 12, I reported a delightful, but almost shocking visit that Jimmy made to Rhode Island, surprising the crowd during a Mac McAnally concert:
At that exact moment, before a stunned concert crowd, OUT WALKS JIMMY BUFFETT, to continue singing HIS SONG!!! As you can imagine, people in the audience were pinching themselves, wondering if they had TOO MUCH TO DRINK! How can it be? Jimmy Buffett, TEN FEET AWAY? It was true!
The July holiday weekend found Jimmy resting in Long Island. Reportedly, Jimmy has a place in Sag Harbor. So, when he heard about his pal Mac, playing across Long Island Sound, what did he do? Jimmy, a licensed pilot, hopped into his plane, and piloted, himself to Rhode Island, landing in Newport.
That’s what I call a friend.
Jimmy Buffett dead At 76. While, physically he’s gone, his spirit and music will last in our hearts forever.
