Matt Damon and Casey Affleck To Film In The North End Next Week
Matt Damon and Casey Affleck are returning to their roots once again. The hometown actors are expected to shoot scenes for their new film The Instigators at Bova’s Bakery on Salem St. next week. Boston.com has reported that Damon and Affleck’s crew will be taking over next Wednesday, March 22nd. According to Bova’s Bakery’s homepage, the North End establishment will be closed from March 20th – 25th to accommodate the filming. This will also shut down portions of Salem St. and Prince St.
Damon and Affleck (who are both Cambridge natives) have starred in numerous films together including, Good Will Hunting, Ocean’s Eleven, and Gerry. They are joined here by director Doug Liman. The Instigators will be released by Apple Original Films. The storyline centers around “two thieves who must go on the run with the help of one of their therapists after a robbery goes awry, Deadline explained.
It is unknown what exact scenes will take place at Bova’s Bakery. There is, of course, a lot of excitement about this family-owned business being part of the production. According to Boston.com, there are flyers posted in the area that details, “The Instigators (which is filming under the working title “Quincy”) will film both interior and exterior scenes at the North End bakery from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on March 22.”
Bova’s Bakery has been around since 1926. They are known for their wide range of homemade Italian specialties. This includes cannolis, pastries, pies, cookies, breads, and prepared foods. Perhaps Damon, Affleck and crew will be treated to some of their delicious items in catering next week.
