Bruce Springsteen is releasing a collection of soul covers entitled Only The Strong Survive on November 11.
The album centers around soul classics, both obscure and well-known, released from the Sixties through the Eighties. It gets its title from Jerry Butler’s 1969 tune “Only The Strong Survive.” The disc also includes “Soul Days” by Dobie Gray, “Nightshift” by the Commodores, “I Wish It Would Rain” by the Temptations, and “Somebody We’ll Be Together” by Diana Ross and the Supremes.

Challenging his voice
The theme is a entire record that is focused around singing, Springsteen says, “I’d spent my working life with my voice at the service of my songs, confined by my arrangements, by my melodies, by compositions, and by my constructions,” he said. “My voice always came second, third or fourth to those elements…[On this new album], I put my own spin on the singing, and my team mastered and sonically modernized some of the most beautiful songs in the American pop songbook. I had so much fun recording this music.”

You Won’t Believe These Cover Songs
Bruce Springsteen sings a country hit? Weird Al and Weezer doing Toto's Africa?
It takes pure bravery to cover a song from another artist, especially a well known song, from an iconic artist.
Here's a list of some of my favorite cover songs that I found. This version of Rhinestone Cowboy from the Boss should get Bruce into the Country Music Association.
Wait until you see who covered Hungry Like A Wolf!
Weezer does Toto's Africa
Featuring Weird Al, this is a GREAT version, from Weezer.
Dolly Pardon-I Will Always Love You
Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You became a worldwide smash. Here is the original from Dolly.
Muse-Hungry Live A Wolf
Duran Duran would be proud! Wow! See you in Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame!
No Doubt-It's My Life
My apologies to the band Talk Talk. I like Gwen Stefanie's version better of No Doubt's It's My Life.
Soft Cell-Tainted Love-Where Did Our Love Go
This is a blend of two songs, an original from Soft Cell called Tainted Love, to which they mixed in Where Did Our Love Go, from the Supremes.
Faith No More-Easy
This is a fun surprise from 80s's electric rock band Faith No More covering The Commodores song Easy. Lionel Ritchie must like it. He wrote it and had to approve their cover.
Bruce Springsteen Fans are Pissed About Concert Ticket Pricing Structure
Bruce Springsteen fans are very angry about the ticket pricing for his upcoming tour with the E Street Band.
Per Variety, many fans were stunned by prices with some tickets going for upwards of $5,000.
"It was an introduction for many fans to Ticketmaster’s 'dynamic pricing' program, in which 'platinum tickets' — which may be placed anywhere in the arena, from the front section to the back rows — fluctuate in price, in what is said to be ongoing reaction to demand," noted Variety. "The system lets ticket prices quickly rise to a level it’s believed resellers would get for them, keeping that extra money in-house for the artist and promoter. But as Wednesday’s ticket sales went on and went up, even some concert veterans who know and accept the idea of variable pricing wondered: Would even scalpers ask close to $5,000 for a good but not directly front-of-house seat?"
Neither Springsteen nor Ticketmaster has issued a statement on this matter, but that didn't stop fans from sounding off on Twitter. Here are some notable reactions.
