A Brilliant British Way to Keep Cool Today!
Beat the heat the British way:
It’s 104 degrees in England today. This guy = life goals.

(You know what’s fun? Sitting in front of the TV next to a fan eating a popsicle. That’s my advice.)
If you’re looking to cool off in town (and you don’t have a trash bin):
The city will have 12 cooling centers open at Boston Centers for Youth & Families community centers Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nearly 50 splash pads will be open at parks and playgrounds throughout the city.
And if you really want to go the posh route, why not check into a cool hotel and take advantage of their pools. Here’s a list of the 16 best hotel pools in Boston.
FYI:
In Massachusetts, a heat wave is usually defined as a period of three or more consecutive days above 90 degrees. Temperatures will be in the 90s until Sunday! And its not just the heat – humidity levels above 50 percent are also expected this week.
If you MUST go outside:
Drink lots of water today, check on pets, kids and the elderly. And remember, asphalt temps can reach highs of 130 degrees! Protect your pets’ paws if you do decide to go for a walk.
Other ways to beat the heat?
Drink plenty of fluids, like water. Stay away from booze, caffeine and sugary drinks.
Stay indoors and avoid exercise.
Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing. Block the rays with a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
Find shade.
Meanwhile, if you don’t have air conditioning, go to places with A/C during the day – like libraries, theaters and malls.
Never leave children or pets in your car.
Make sure your pets have plenty of cool water.
Stay cool everyone!
