Wilmington is the latest town to spot this young male black bear that has been roaming the Merrimack Valley. Wilmington PD shared this picture along with some advice, “please secure trash barrels and bring in birdfeeders. You do not need to call us to give us the bear’s location. Like any other wild animal, we are not going to intervene unless the bear poses is a hazard to humans or pets.”
Bears have been spotted recently in Woburn, Tewksbury, Billerica and Lowell.
We don’t know the name of the Wilmington bear, and so far he isn’t on twitter like the bear spotted a few years ago in Burlington.
In all seriousness, follow these rules to prevent negative encounters with me and any other bears you encounter. 🐻 pic.twitter.com/z7oxtjfyly

Just last week this bear was spotted cooling off in a koi pond in Pepperell!
Last year, it was Boo Boo roaming on the South Shore that everyone was following around town!
