A stray cat brought yesterday’s (August 2) game between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles to a halt when it ran into the outfield and evaded multiple members of the grounds crew multiple times.

Video of the incident can be viewed below via MLB’s YouTube channel. At the time of this stoppage in play, the Yankees were down 7-1, and somehow, this random cat gave Yankees fans inside Yankee Stadium something to really cheer about. They erupted in applause every time the cat scurried past grounds crew members and at one point began chanting, “M-V-P! M-V-P!”

The video below was from the Orioles broadcast, and even their play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown was stunned by the cat’s speed saying, “Look at this thing go; it’s faster than anybody on the Yankees!”

Eventually, the cat went through an open door along the third-base line, which led to an eruption of boos from the crowd. In what appears to be fan-shot video from the game shared to NJ.com’s YouTube channel, following the first time the cat dodged getting caught, Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell” began playing on the Yankee Stadium’s P.A. system. Talk about purr-fection!
