Kim Janey was officially sworn into office as the 55th Mayor of Boston on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Janey made history as she becomes the first woman and person of color to hold the office in the city's history.

Previously Janey was serving as Boston City Council President. She became acting Mayor on Monday night once Mayor Marty Walsh was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Federal Labor Secretary.
