Richie Sambora on What it Would Take to Return to Bon Jovi
Richie Sambora left Bon Jovi in 2013, and ever since, fans have been holding out hope the guitarist would rejoin the band.
They got their wish when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, but that was for one night only. So, what would it take for Sambora to reunite with Bon Jovi?
“It would have to be a special situation for me to go back, but I’m certainly not counting it out,” said Sambora. “I have no malice toward that band.”
When Sambora exited Bon Jovi in 2013, it was due to “personal reasons,” and among them was to help raise his daughter, Ava, who is now 23.
Jon Bon Jovi expressed in a recent interview with Rock Antenne, “There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wish that Richie had his life together and was still in the band. Yet, in a weird way, it’s because of his inability to get it together anymore that we went on and wrote This House Is Not For Sale, and that was a very strong record.”
In response to that, Sambora said, “When people say I don’t have my life together – are you kidding me? I’m the happiest dude on the block…We’ve had our ups and downs throughout the years as any married couple have. Jon and I spent more time together than we spent with our families because him and I wrote the songs.”
Basically, when it comes to seeing Sambora back in Bon Jovi, it might be best described in the words of Lloyd Christmas: “So, you’re telling me there’s a chance…YEAH!”
