Hawaii Continues 14 Day Quarantine Until At Least October
Hawaii’s plans to welcome visitors back without having to quarantine for coronavirus has been moved.
The state originally planned to lift its 14-day mandatory quarantine for arrivals on September 1st.
That was changed on Tuesday because of a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
October 1st is the earliest date Hawaii could start opening to tourists, but Governor David Ige said an official date is forthcoming.
Ige said he wanted hotels and resorts to have ample time to staff up and make sure the state is ready to collect and verify negative COVID-19 tests from visitors as they arrive.
Hawaii’s 14-day mandatory quarantine rules began in March. The isolation makes it nearly impossible for guests to come to the Islands for a vacation unless they have deep pockets and plenty of time.
