Gillette Stadium Not Permitted To Host Fans Through at Least September

The fall will begin without fans in the stands at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots and New England Revolution, the stadium confirmed in a statement Tuesday.
“Following consultation with the Massachusetts Reopening Advisory Board, Gillette Stadium officials learned today that we will not be permitted to host fans at any events through at least the end of September,” Gillette Stadium’s statement read. “We will communicate directly with our respective ticket holders regarding refunds.”
That ban on fans means that the Patriots’ home opener against the Miami Dolphins on September 13, as well their head-to-head with the Las Vegas Raiders on September 27, will go on without fans at their 65,000-plus seat noise cauldron.
This fan will also impact the next three Revolution home matches, scheduled for August 20, 29 and September 2.
Gillette had originally played to operate at ‘limited capacity’ this fall, and while that still may happen, it will not come in September, as confirmed by the stadium’s position on the state’s decision.
“Gillette Stadium fully supports the state’s position and this decision in the interest of public safety,” the statement read. “We would have welcomed the opportunity to host fans in August and September, but are hopeful to do so later in the season. We greatly appreciate the time and support the Massachusetts Reopening Advisory Board has provided throughout this process and respect their efforts as they continue to navigate the state’s phased reopening.”
The Patriots have sold out every game at Gillette since its opening in 2002, and have sold out every Patriots game since 1994.
