Due to COIVD-19, the 2021 Golden Globes has been pushed back. Per Variety, the event will be on February 28. This is about eight weeks before the 93rd Academy Awards, which is set to air on April 25, 2021.

In a statement, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association states, “To accommodate both domestic and international film and television productions, the HFPA will provide further guidance around eligibility, voting period and revised nominations announcement timing in the coming weeks.”

Variety explains that before the pandemic, the Oscars were initially supposed to air on February 28. They add, “The new date means that the results of the Globes could influence Oscar nominations voting, as the process doesn’t begin until a week later on March 5.”

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the 2021 Golden Globes. They will air live on NBC.
