Have you had ‘the talk’ with your kids?

I saw this post (see below) about having ‘the talk’ and remembered when I found out ‘the truth’.

I was about seven and was rooting around in my mom’s closet when I came across an empty “Chatty Cathy” box. I’d just received a Chatty Cathy doll for Christmas from ‘Santa’. It was then that I started putting it all together in my little seven year old brain.

I don’t remember if I told my little brother. I sure hope I didn’t.

After that, Christmas wasn’t the same…until I had my own children. Only then did it become magical again.

My mom never had ‘the talk’ with me and I never told her I’d found the empty doll box tucked away in her closet. I’ve also never admitted ‘the truth’ to my own now adult children.

Why spoil it for them?!
