Balloons Could Be Banned In Massachusetts
Yes, you read that right.. All helium balloons could soon be considered criminal contraband in the Commonwealth.
Little Jimmy’s birthday party? No balloons.
State lawmakers on Beacon Hill in Boston are considering a bill to ban the “sale, distribution and release of any type of balloon, including, but not limited to, plastic, latex or mylar, filled with any type of lighter than air gas, both for public or private use.”
Penalties could be in the form of $100 fines.
Bill supporters say it’s a necessary move to protect animals and the environment, opponents argue that banning balloons would be bad for business.
