NEW YORK, NY - JUNE 10: Bruce Springsteen performs onstage during the 72nd Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall on June 10, 2018 in New York City.

Bruce Springsteen released his solo album, Western Stars, last month, and while fans won’t be getting a tour, they still will be getting some sort of performance of the LP.

Springsteen said in a new interview today (July 10) that a new performance film will be released at some point in 2019.

“We made a film of us playing the Western Stars album start to finish,” said The Boss. “I knew we weren’t going to tour, so I figured this was the best way to do it.”

The film is directed by Thom Zimny, who also directed Springsteen’s super-successful Broadway show Springsteen On Broadway.

A good reason why Springsteen won’t be touring in support of Western Stars likely has to do with new music and a tour with the E Street Band. Springsteen revealed in a sit-down interview with director Martin Scorsese at a Netflix event in May that he had written new E Street material and that “There’ll be another tour.”
