Ilya S. Savenok/Getty ImagesAfter locking horns in a neck-and-neck battle all week, Bruce Springsteen has outsold Madonna to capture the number one spot on the U.K.'s album chart.
"Western Stars," Springsteen's 19th album, sold more than 45,400 copies in the United Kingdom in its first week of release.
That tops sales of Madonna's "Madame X" by 25,000 copies, regulating the Material Girl's latest release to the number two spot.
Springsteen's chart-topping effort marks his 11th number one album on the British charts. That still falls short of Madonna, whose albums have hit number one 12 times in the U.K.
Does Springsteen sell well in the U.K. in spite of his all-American image or because of it?
Which of the two are you more surprised to see still doing well after all these years -- Springsteen or Madonna?
