Hank And Harv, A Train Ride And The Bruins!
My grandson, Harvey, is 18-months-old and LOVES trains! We live about an 1/8th of mile from the West Medford MBTA commuter rail station on the Lowell line. It’s the last stop before North Station, adjacent to the TD Garden, home of the Bruins and Celtics! Yesterday afternoon, Harv and I went on a little train trip!
We jumped on the 2:50 train and 13 minutes later we were in North Station. Harv LOVED going by all the buildings, fields, houses, construction projects and Boston Sand and Gravel. THEN, instead of just getting on the return train, we went up to Bruins Pro Shop on the second level! Win-win! When we were done, we jumped on the 3:40 pm train and headed home. There something charming and nostalgic about going on a train. It’s something that is still basically the same as it was 100 years ago, yet links you with places like North Station, one of the great up and coming destinations with new restaurants, bars, apartments and retail stores, along with the legendary TD Garden! BTW, I bought Harv a Bruins train and a Bobby Orr retired number pennant!:):)
