The 2009 John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy will be adapted into a stage musical in the coming years with its premiere currently slated for the U.K.

Per Deadline, the stage rights were acquired by Brian and Dayna Lee of AF Creative Media and Robyn Goodman and Josh Fiedler of Aged in Wood. Yoko Ono has been involved in many projects pertaining to Lennon, but so far, she is not involved in this one, but she is aware of the production.

Nowhere Boy focuses on Lennon’s early days as a member of the Quarrymen and his relationships with his mother, Julia, and his aunt, Mimi Smith. The film didn’t feature any Beatles music but did focus on Lennon’s musical influences from the 1950’s. The stage adaptation will follow the same lead in regards to music.

This project is in its very early stages, but if the U.K. production is a success, don’t be surprised if Nowhere Boy makes its way to Broadway.
