Penny Marshall Put Mark Wahlberg In The Movies
While many knew the hysterical Penny Marshall as Laverne on the massive TV hit Laverne and Shirleyshe went on to follow her brother Garry Marshall’s footsteps and became a respected director, directing many movies including League Of Their Own and Big.
One her most brilliant moments came when she witnessed a young, pop-rap star named Marky Mark in a video called Good Vibrations. It was reported that when she saw that video, she immediately called Wahlberg to discuss an acting career with a role in her then upcoming movie Renaissance Man. Reportedly Mark said, “I’m not an actor.” Penny replied: “just be the guy in the video.” Some great things never change.
Penny Marshall passed away this week at the age of 75.
