OK. This is a thing? Because this shouldn't be a thing. And now the Centers for Disease Control is involved.
This is why we can't have nice things:
The US Center for Disease Control is warning people not to dress up their chickens for Halloween due to a risk of catching salmonella.
In case you read that wrong, the federal agency isn't telling you what not to wear on the 31st, but not to stick your pet chickens in costumes.
Apparently it's commonplace among those who raise chickens to dress them for Halloween.
The CDC says that handling the birds is contributing to an outbreak which has affected 92 people so far in 29 states.
