NEW YORK, NY - NOVEMBER 01: Comedian, performer Jim Gaffigan performs on stage as The New York Comedy Festival and The Bob Woodruff Foundation present the 10th Annual Stand Up for Heroes event at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on November 1, 2016 in New York City.

Comedian Jim Gaffigan appeared on CBS This Morning this past weekend where he aired a small grievance about craft beer.

“I guess I’m a traditionalist. I don’t want a beer that tastes like chocolate or oranges or avocados,” said Gaffigan. “I want a beer that tastes like, I don’t know, beer.”

Sure…a lot of craft beer enthusiasts probably don’t care for Gaffigan’s opinion (even though he makes a funny point), but he took a much calmer approach toward craft beer than Denis Leary did on coffee back in 1997 on his stand-up special Lock ‘N Load.

“Is it impossible to get a cup of coffee-flavored coffee anymore in this country?” Leary angrily pondered over two decades ago. “What happened with coffee?  Did I miss a f*cking meeting with the coffee?! You can get every other flavor except coffee-flavored coffee! They got mochachino, chococino, frappuccino, cappuccino, rappuccino, Al Pacino… what the f*ck?!”  (You can listen to the entire bit below, but obviously it contains NSFW language. )

Considering how flavored coffee and specialty espresso drinks have only grown in popularity, we doubt craft beer is ever really going to go away.  However, I wonder what drink (or food) will be the next thing stand-up comics will take on next.  My bet is on fancy toasts. With how much they cost, people should just buy a damn sandwich, because you get more food AND IT’S CHEAPER!
