When the track listing of Ann Wilson’s upcoming covers album Immortal was released, one of the most intriguing and overtly pop songs listed was Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me.”  However, to the surprise of no one, she makes the iconic pop song her own and gets a little help from Warren Haynes on the track, too.

In an interview with Billboard, Wilson says the song is “more universal now” and, “It could be the anthem of anyone who wants respect, anyone at all, not just women. I think we’re in a time where we’re having a discourse now as a culture about who people really are and how it’s important to accept people, and so I thought the song really fits. I think it’s really meaningful in today’s world.”
