After multiple renewals or reboots ('Live Another Day,' 'Legacy'), will '24' get it right this time?
According to Hollywood Reporter, the original creators of the show, Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran will be bringing Jack Bauer back to the screen, but does that mean we'll see Kiefer Sutherland reprise his role as Bauer?
It doesn't look like it as of right now. HR says "Surnow and Cochran are co-writing the script for what sources say could be an ongoing series rather than a closed-ended limited series like the most recent incarnations in the franchise, 24: Legacy and 24: Live Another Day. It's unclear when the series could be on the air, though there had been rumors in May that Fox could launch the new installment for midseason. Casting has not begun."
It will portray a younger version of Jack Bauer, according to reports, so that would probably mean that Sutherland wouldn't be slated to return, but you never know if he will have any flash-forwards/ flash-backward scenarios.
Personally, for me, Jack Bauer is only Kiefer Sutherland, and trying to do this without him isn't going to bring in the audience, but I've been wrong before!
