Going back to May, we’ve heard that Andrew Lincoln would be leaving The Walking Dead as its iconic character Rick Grimes. Now, we have confirmation from the show’s creator that Lincoln is leaving.
In an interview with filmmaker Kevin Smith, the comic creator and series executive producer was asked if the show’s upcoming ninth season would be Lincoln’s last. Kirkman’s response? “It’s looking that way,” he said, with a laugh.
Kirkman didn’t want to spoil how Lincoln’s character would exit, but he did say that “anybody who’s been a fan of his journey, who loves Rick Grimes, who loves the world of The Walking Dead, you’re going to want to see what we do.”
