Dirty Laundry

After 7 Seasons, ‘Comic Book Men’ is coming to an end.

Kevin Smith, Walt Flanagan, Bryan Johnson, Mike Zapcic, and Ming Chen are finding themselves off of AMC with the news of the cancelation, and Kevin Smith and company went on the SModcast to chat about the shutdown, and hold a funeral for the show vocally.

The unscripted show about comic books got the ax but there hasn’t been a real indicator as to WHY it was let go. Smith announced that the show was done via SModcast, and had a “sad but celebratory” episode, according to Cinema Blend.

“For one, Comic Book Men has never been much of a ratings juggernaut, which is fairly expected for the kind of show that it is, which is basically Smith’s crew lovingly embracing different slices of pop culture in often silly ways. The viewership rarely surpassed a million people in the later seasons, and the key 18-49 demo rating was usually around a 0.2. Not the best numbers, though they were obviously solid enough to keep AMC’s continued investment.”

AMC has been killing off their more reality-based shows, including ‘Comic Book Men, and ‘Talking Dead’ being destroyed because Chris Hardwick has been accused of sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

It’s a bummer, but the guys are taking it rather well, and joke about it on the SModcast.

Now people on Twitter, obviously, as they often do, are calling for sites like Netflix to take over the mantle. Nothing is noted as of right now, but maybe one day, they will come back.
