Music News

There’s been a lot of Prince news in the past 24 hours, so let’s not waste any more time and dive right in.

Fans have been losing their minds (nay…going crazy) over the unveiling of Prince’s studio recording of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which has never been heard or released until now.  Of course, the song’s most popular rendition is Sinead O’Connor‘s cover that was released in 1990.

In other Prince news:  Julien’s Auctions just announced a massive Prince auction full of stage-worn clothing and other pieces of memorabilia will go up for bid on May 18 at their New York City location.  Online bids are currently underway at JuliensLive.com where fans can check out all of the lots headed to auction.

Prince wore this hat while performing on stage for his Act I Tour, throughout his music video, and for the album cover of his 1992 single "My Name Is Prince." The video also stars Mayte Garcia, Prince's former wife. Accompanied by a copy of the album, a letter of authenticity signed by Garcia, and a signed copy of her book The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince. Join Julien's for our "Music Icons: Featuring Property From The Life and Career of Prince" auction event on May 18th at the Hard Rock Cafe New York and online at Julien's Live. Julien's will pay tribute to one of the greatest music legends of all time by featuring an exclusive collection of Prince's signature wardrobe, memorabilia and more. Coming off achieving the world record for the highest price ever paid ($700,000) for a Prince guitar in November 2017, Julien's will once again feature the property of this extraordinary recording artist. Highlights include a Schecter "White Cloud" electric guitar commissioned by Prince in 2002 and styled as the same guitar first made known in the 1984 classic Purple Rain, designed by Dave Rusan and gifted to a Paisley Park employee; a custom electric blue ensemble won on stage in a 1999 performance at Paisley Park with Lenny Kravitz; and Prince's two piece Devoré costume worn in his role as Christopher Tracy in the 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon.
