If you tuned into the Red Sox-Yankees game last night you may have thought you were watching a hockey game. Why?

Benches emptied twice last night at Fenway, with a full on brawl starting in the top of the 7th inning, when Joe Kelly hit the Yankees’ DH Tyler Austin in the back. The pitch was retribution for Austin’s spikes high, illegal slide into shortstop Brock Holt at second base in the third inning. After Holt and Austin had words, the benches emptied, but no punches were thrown. It looked like everything was back to normal, until the 7th inning kerfuffle!

In the end, the Yankees won the game, 10-7, snapping the Red Sox nine game winning streak.
