3 Hysterical Ten Commandments Movie Mistakes, Did You Find Them?
With the annual Passover airing of classic movie The Ten Commandments on ABC this past Saturday night, it reminded me of the hysterical Ten Commandments movie mistakes you can find if you look close.
I can watch this movie every weekend, never mind each year. It is clearly one of my favorites for a million reasons. But after watching it each year, I seem to find more and more little movie mistakes.
Ten Commandments Behind The Scenes
If you’re a fan of the movies behind-the scenes, I recommend watching the directors cut of The Ten Commandments. It is narrated by a Cecil B. DeMille family member, who takes you right on the film stage with amazing stories of the filming. For example, the beautiful Debra Paget who played love struck Lilia was the only Hebrew seen wearing sandals. DeMille thought her feet looked too big! Did you know that the Pharaoh’s chief soldier, Henry Wilcoxon, played the bishop in Caddie Shack? As a homage to The Ten Commandments, they played the Moses desert music, during the raining golf scene, where the bishop get’s struck by lightning.
Ten Commandments, 3 Filming Mistakes
When Moses walks up the mountain to connect with the burning bush, as the camera follows Charlton Heston, you can see in the background the two tire tracks in the sand, made by the dolly truck that held the camera.
The Diaper
Also, at the open of the movie when baby Moses is rescued from the Nile, his diaper has a silver, safety pin. They didn’t have those in 1300 BC.
Floating Rock Prop
As the Hebrews escape the soldiers at the end of crossing the Nile, you’ll see a rock, that is floating!
Young Stars
The Ten Commandments featured many up and coming stars like Mike Connors who went on to play Mannix, Robert Vaughn, Vincent Price, and John Carradine. Yvonne De Carlo went on to play Lili in The Munsters.
