Red Sox asking to change name of Yawkey Way

Over the years, the one thing I have learned: things change.

It was announced today that the Red Sox asked the city to change the name of Yawkey Way back to Jersey Street. 

 

Boston Red Sox file petition to change name of Yawkey Way

The Boston Red Sox have filed a petition with the city of Boston to change the name of Yawkey Way to its original street name. In a statement released Wednesday, the team said it has requested that Yawkey Way be restored to Jersey Street, which was the name of the extension outside Fenway Park before 1977, when it was changed to honor former owner Tom Yawkey.
