Check Out New Guitar Made in Honor of Jerry Garcia’s 75th Birthday!
The late, great Jerry Garcia would’ve turned 75 today (August 1), and The Jerry Garcia Foundation and luthier Tom Lieber of Lieber Instruments, Inc. just unveiled a beautiful guitar made in honor of the Grateful Dead legend.
Dubbed “Ocean,” the eco-friendly guitar is made from sustainable maple and contains no plastic parts or hardware. The fingerboard inlay features a fish drawing by Garcia appropriately called “Fish.”
Why chose “Fish” to be featured on the fingerboard? The guitar will be played at benefits that promote coral reef preservation, a cause that was near and dear to Garcia.
In a statement, Lieber, who along with Doug Irwin designed Garcia’s “Tiger” and “Wolf” guitars, said: “This guitar, ‘Ocean,’ has been conceived with love and intent to serve as a symbolic vehicle for the Jerry Garcia Foundation to utilize in its continuing effort of expanding the positive world impact of Jerry Garcia’s creative legacy.”
So far, plans for reproducing “Ocean” for sale have not been unveiled.
