You've probably read it in the news, but Brock Turner, a freshman at Stanford University, was convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster after a frat party.
The trial made news because of many reasons: the judge handing down such a light sentence; Turner's self-centered letter to the judge; Turner's father's even more outrageous plea to the judge; and finally, the victim impact statement by the actual victim, which went viral and is a must-read for everyone.
The trial, the conviction and the subsequent public outrage has opened up an important discussion about sexual consent. And thanks to the Thames Valley Police and their PSA, we can all sit and have a cup of tea (or not!) and take in this important lesson is the difference between yes and no. This is brilliant and worth the time. (And show it to your teens, your friends, your family!)
If you're still struggling with consent just imagine instead of initiating sex you're making them a cup of tea.
