The late Syd Barrett would’ve turned 72 today (January 6), and besides being Pink Floyd’s founding guitarist/frontman, one of his other biggest contributions to the band’s history is serving as the inspiration to “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” an epic and favorite among fans the world over.
ZUMIX is a local non profit that gives young people room to experiment with and express their creativity. They have their own radio station, music lessons, a stage on which to perform at their East Boston location and numerous other art based activities.
On August 29, 1959, an up-and-coming band called The Quarry Men played the opening night of a new teen hangout called the Casbah Coffee Club in Liverpool, England. Of course, that band would go on to become The Beatles. (Perhaps you’ve heard of them?)
